Clark Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

April 7, 2020

KINGSPORT — Republican candidate for the First Congressional District of Tennessee, John Clark, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, the federal candidate pledge from Americans for Tax Reform. The Pledge is a written commitment to oppose tax increases as a Member of Congress. Clark is the first candidate in the open TN-01 race to sign the pledge.

“In the difficult economic times we are facing in the weeks and months ahead, the Taxpayer Protection pledge becomes even more important,” Clark said. “The last thing that hard-working Americans can afford to face as they get back on their feet after this economic shock is a higher tax bill from the federal government. I’m proud to be the first candidate in the First District to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.”

“I also want to thank Americans for Tax Reform and their President, Grover Norquist, for leading the fight in Washington on critical taxpayer issues,” Clark added. “Since 1986, the Taxpayer Protection Pledge has been a guidepost to taxpayers as they make their voting decisions. I want to recommit to my future constituents here in Northeast Tennessee that I will fight every day with President Trump to stand up to the tax-and-spend policies of Nancy Pelosi and the socialist Democrats.”
